World Telugu literary meet in Melbourne

The sixth world Telugu literary convention will be organised in Melbourne on
November 3 and 4.
The convention will be organised by the Telugu Association of Australia, the
Vanguri Foundation of America, Houston, and the Lok Nayak Foundation,
according Y. Lakshmi Prasad.
Besides, the Australia Telugu Federation and the Telugu associations in
Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, Bali and Malaysia
would support the convention, Dr. Lakshmi Prasad told reporters here on
Tuesday. He said the theme of the convention was ‘Humour in Telugu
literature - then and now’.
Besides bringing literary personalities together for discussions, it would
deliberate plans for getting more recognition to the literature in the Telugu-
speaking States and the world over.
Prominent features
Authors reading out their works, literary speeches and discussions, book
releases and exhibitions, contests and impromptu ‘chain-story-telling’ are
among the prominent features of the convention.
In the fifth convention held in Singapore, 500 delegates from 12 countries
participated, Dr. Lakshmi Prasad said.
The convention would be coordinated by Sreeni Katta, president of the
Telugu Association of Australia, Vanguri Chitten Raju of Vanguri
Foundation, and Rao Konchada and, in India, by Vamsee Ramaraju.
Film producer Katragadda Murari and foundation secretary Nalla Babayya
were present.
